QuickCapture Privacy Policy

The QuickCapture Team ("we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what the QuickCapture application ("the App") does and does not do with your information.

1. Core principle: local-first

• The App has no account, no login and no server. Every capture feature works entirely on your PC without an internet connection.
• We do not collect or transmit your screenshots, clipboard contents, files, window titles or usage history.
• The App contains no advertising, trackers or telemetry.

2. Information stored on your PC

To work, the App stores the following only on your PC:

• Settings (%APPDATA%\com.projectteamforyou.quickcapture\config.json): language, hotkeys, save folder, last capture region coordinates, etc.
• Logs (%LOCALAPPDATA%\com.projectteamforyou.quickcapture\logs): errors and performance timings. Screenshots and window titles are never written to logs.
• Screenshots: saved as PNG files in the folder you choose, only when you save or turn on auto-save.
• Recent captures (memory only): a few recent captures are kept in memory for the preview while the App runs and are discarded on exit.
• Capture history library (%LOCALAPPDATA%\com.projectteamforyou.quickcapture\library): when "Keep capture history" is on (default), each capture, a small thumbnail, its time and size, the captured app's executable name, the window title and any tags you add are stored on this PC only. Beyond the retention limit (100/500/1000/unlimited) the oldest non-favourite items are deleted automatically. You can turn history off, clear it, or delete single items under Output › Capture history. Window titles can contain document names — keep that in mind when capturing sensitive screens.
• Recognised text (OCR): only when you use Text capture or "Extract text", the OCR engine built into Windows reads the image on this PC. No image or text is sent to any server. The text is stored with that capture in the library so it can be searched, and is deleted with the capture or when you clear history. Links, e-mail addresses and phone numbers in the text open only when you click them.
• Privacy settings (Settings › Privacy): you decide whether window titles and recognised text are kept (including clearing all stored text), which apps are never kept in history (e.g. banking apps, password managers), and whether the editor redacts automatically. Bug reports and collection exports are written only where you choose and are never sent automatically.

You can delete any of this at any time. Removing the App and its settings/log folders erases everything.

3. Clipboard

Captures are copied to the Windows clipboard according to your settings. If you enable Windows "Clipboard history" or "Sync across devices", Microsoft Windows' own policies apply; we are not involved.

4. Sharing and international transfer

Because we collect no personal information, we do not share it with third parties or transfer it abroad.

5. Future optional features (AI, OCR, etc.)

If optional features such as OCR or AI descriptions are added later:

• They are off by default, and capturing works fully without them.
• Any feature that sends an image to an external server runs only after your explicit consent and your choice of provider. Nothing is uploaded silently.
• This policy will be updated and the change announced in the App before such a feature ships.

6. Children

The App collects no personal information, including from children.

7. Your rights

You can view, change or delete the settings, logs and screenshot files on your PC at any time. About › Open log folder / Open settings folder opens their locations directly.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the new effective date and a summary of changes will be published in the App and on the download page.
